📘 Installing and Connecting Channel D on Chromecast with Google TV / Google TV Smart TVs
Hardware Setup
✅ Step 1: Check Compatibility
This guide supports:
Chromecast with Google TV (HD or 4K)
Smart TVs with Google TV (Sony, TCL, Hisense, Philips, Sharp)
Android TVs (slightly different interface but same process)
✅ Step 2: Plug in Chromecast Device
Plug the Google TV dongle into an HDMI port on your TV.
Connect the USB cable to power, using the included power adapter.
⚠️ Do not plug into the TV’s USB port—it may not provide enough power.
✅ Step 3: Use the Chromecast Remote
Use the remote control that came with the Chromecast.
Press and hold the pairing buttons on the remote.
Select your language when prompted.
✅ Step 4: Connect to Wi-Fi & Google Account
If you have an Android phone:
You can transfer Wi-Fi and Google account directly.
If not:
Manually select your Wi-Fi network, enter the password, and sign in to your Google account.
✅ Step 5: Accept Prompts
Follow the prompts to:
Accept terms
Click "Yes", "Continue", "No Thanks", and agree where needed
If checkboxes appear, select them; if not, continue
Installing Channel D
✅ Step 6: Access the App Store
Go to the home screen, locate the “Apps” section.
Click on Google Play Store (or search icon if not visible).
✅ Step 7: Search and Install Channel D
Search for “Channel D” (use the voice feature or type it in).
Select and install the app.
Open Channel D and view the app thumbnail.
✅ Step 8: Enter Practice ID
Enter your 6-digit Practice ID from the top-left of your Channel D dashboard on your computer.
✅ Step 9: Confirm Video Playback
Once connected, the playlist from your computer will now display on your TV.
If you exit the app, return by:
Clicking the Apps icon
Selecting Channel D thumbnail again
Disable Screensaver
✅ Step 10: Prevent Screensaver from Interrupting Videos
Go to Settings > Device Preferences > Screensaver
Set screensaver to “Never” to avoid interruptions.
Troubleshooting and Reinstalling
✅ Step 11: Reinstall Channel D if Needed
If an update was interrupted or corrupted, reinstall the app:
Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps
Click Channel D > Uninstall
✅ Step 12: Reinstall Channel D
From the Home screen, search for Channel D in the Play Store or use the search icon
Reinstall and re-enter your Practice ID
